Premedical, Predental, and Other Pre-Health Requirements

Undergraduate requirements for medicine, dentistry, optometry, and physical therapy schools are similar. There are small variations from one school to another, but those for UMDNJ are typical:

  • One year of General Biology, with lab
  • One year of General (Inorganic) Chemistry, with lab
  • One year of Organic Chemistry, with lab
  • One year of General Physics, with lab
  • Six semester hours of English

Some schools require one semester of calculus (but UMDNJ does not).

If AP credits have been obtained for any of the above, either the course must be retaken in college or the next higher level course in the same subject must be taken.
