Admission Requirements and Program Details for Accelerated Medical/Dental/Optometry/Physical Therapy Programs

Unfortunately, we cannot answer any of your questions about how particular activities, test scores, or grades will affect your chances of getting accepted. Admission is a 3-step process, involving an interview at NJIT, an interview at the professional school (if selected), and an acceptance decision. Below are the minimum requirements.  These programs are very competitive, and successful applicants often exceed them.  Some experience in a hospital or other medical site, or research experience, will be extremely important though not essential.

M.D. UMDNJ - New Jersey Medical School -- This program is extremely competitive.  Fewer than 1 out of 8 applicants are accepted.
 Guaranteed acceptance to Medical School if admitted. Student must take MCAT, but test results do not affect admission. Students must achieve a GPA of 3.4 every semester.
Applicants who are admitted to this program receive a scholarship that covers their full cost of attendance.		 SAT 1400 at one sitting

ACT 32

 top 10%
M.D. St. George's University, Grenada; and St. Michael's Medical Center, Newark Guaranteed acceptance to Medical School if admitted. Student must take MCAT, but test results do not affect admission.

Students must maintain standing in Honors.

Dentistry UMDNJ - New Jersey Dental School Student must apply to Dental School in 3rd year, take DAT, and score at the average of those accepted through regular admission. Fulfilling requirements of program will result in admission.

Students must achieve a GPA of 3.4 every semester.

ACT 29

Optometry SUNY College of Optometry Students must achieve overall GPA of 3.3 and math/science GPA of 3.3 every semester with no math/science grade below C.

Student must apply to Optometry School in 3rd year; take Optometric Admission Test and achieve individual scores of 330 in each part and 330 in Total Science; and have interview at SUNY College of Optometry.

GPA 93/100 or 3.72
Physical Therapy UMDNJ School of Health Related Professions. Details HERE. Must apply to UMDNJ in 3rd year. Must take the GRE for statistical purposes. SAT 1250
