National Scholarships and Fellowships for Undergraduate Study

Putting Yourself in the Best Company

In recent years the range of colleges and universities whose students are winning prestigious national scholarships has broadened well beyond the traditional Ivies and similar schools. Indeed, NJIT students have won two such scholarships in recent years: the Truman and the Goldwater, the latter by three students.

Not only do these national scholarships provide significant monetary awards as well as prestige and media exposure that can help you throughout your career, you will also find that preparing an application for one of them is an extremely rewarding process in itself. The application process gives you a head start on applying for graduate schools or employment by giving you an opportunity to assess your strengths and goals in a way that you never have before. Winning such a scholarship puts you in the league of some of the world's most noted scholars, scientists, engineers, political and business leaders.

In most cases, application must be made through a representative at NJIT. The names of these representative are given below.Applying for these scholarships generally requires at least a student essay and several recommendations, so it is recommended that you leave a long lead time. You can find the deadlines for each scholarship at the web sites below. Remember that these are the final dates on which the application must be submitted.  NJIT will have an earlier deadline, which you can find out by contacting the faculty liaison. These internal deadlines are often  months before the final deadline.
