Summer Research and Internship Opportunities for Honors Students 2008

The National Science Foundation offers a huge number of opportunities for undergraduates to join research projects each summer. These allow students to experience first-hand how basic research is carried out, and to contribute significantly. Opportunities are available in engineering, materials science, computer and information science, the sciences, and mathematics. Go to the REU web page and search for REU projects by subject area.

NJIT has two REU projects:

Here you can search by subject area, region, or institution, or any combination. This page also contains links to other summer research programs and a Handbook on summer research.

The application deadline for Summer 2008 was January 31, 2008; please consider this for Summer 2009. RISE - Research Internships in Science and Engineering - gives students in the fields of biology, chemistry, earth sciences, engineering and physics the chance to spend a summer working with German doctoral students on serious research projects. The doctoral students help integrate the undergraduate directly into the lab work and serve as personal and professional mentors. All participants receive stipends to help cover living expenses, and the partner universities and research institutions provide housing assistance.

To find out about eligibility and the application process as well as to read reports from past participants, please visit: http://www.daad.de/rise/en/index.html.
