Assistant Dean for Academics
Dr. Dawn Klimovich has served as the Assistant Dean for Academics at the Albert Dorman Honors College since 2007.
Prior to joining the Honors College at NJIT, Dr. Klimovich was Director of Freshman Programs and an academic advisor in Student Affairs/Dean of Students Office at Hunter College, City University of New York. She also taught graduate research methodology courses in the School of Education at Hunter College.
As an advisor, Dr. Klimovich discusses academic progress, honors courses and requirements in addition to registration concerns with her students. As Honors freshman seminar coordinator, her focus is on the transition of students from high school to college. She develops the summer assignments for newly admitted freshmen, course curriculum, staffing of instructors, and training of teaching assistants for the first semester program. Dr. Klimovich conducts advising workshops with incoming Honors freshmen during the NJIT orientation.
Dr. Klimovich coordinates the Honors College Passing the Torch Mentoring program. She is also co-advisor for the NJIT chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). She received the NSCS National Inspire Integrity Award in 2012.
Dr. Klimovich serves on several NJIT committees including the Committee for Undergraduate Education (CUE), Honors Academic Committee, First-Year Placement and Registration Committee and NJIT Student Standing Committee.
Dr. Klimovich received her B.A. in Biology and M.S. in Guidance and Counseling from Hunter College, City University of New York. She received her Ph.D. in the field of Experimental Psychology from Fordham University.
