What is the Honors College?
- Over 600 students in all NJIT majors
- A chance for you to build a social network of academically-minded high-achievers
- An opportunity for research, internships, and co-ops that will enhance your total learning experience at NJIT. Nearly all Honors students engage in a research project, internship, or co-op by their senior year.

Do I Qualify for the Honors College?
- The Albert Dorman Honors College considers students who have SAT scores of 1250 or higher (Reading + Math), or ACT composite score of 28; are in the top 15 percent of their high school class or have at least a B+ average; have taken the most challenging courses their high school offers; and have a wide range of interests, leadership activities, and community service. Our requirements are rigorous yet flexible, and we consider the applicant's entire record. Those who do not meet all of the criteria can be considered for Honors if they present otherwise excellent credentials.
- Current NJIT students and incoming transfer students are welcome to apply if they have outstanding records: a 3.4 GPA in a rigorous college-level curriculum.
What makes the Honors College different? What will I do?
- You will take 11 Honors courses over your four or five years (7 courses for B. ARCH majors).
- You will have exclusive use of an Honors lounge, study and computing areas.
- You get guaranteed on-campus housing.
- You will attend at least two Honors Colloquia each semester.
- You will participate in campus or community service.
- You will have the opportunity to work closely with faculty and staff on research and industry-based projects.

What are honors courses?
- Honors courses are small (average 15), taught at a high level, go into the subject more deeply.
- They are taught by the best faculty in each department.
- They are available throughout the curriculum – sciences, engineering, math, English, history, etc.
- They are available throughout your 4 or 5 years

What are Honors Colloquia?
- A series of talks, lectures, and panels that address current scientific and social issues of the day, career information, site visits, and other events, presented by leaders who are actively using the kinds of skills you will be learning at NJIT.

Do I get a special scholarship?
- All Honors students from both in and out of the state of New Jersey receive a merit-based scholarship package in addition to any other aid for which you might be eligible. Your particular situation depends on your SAT scores and high school record.
- The total aid package (including that offered by NJIT's Office of Financial Aid) may range from about one-half to full tuition, and may also include a room grant. Currently, the average total award for Honors students is $12,000 per year.

What do I have to do to remain in the Honors College?
- Take Honors courses on a regular basis (usually two per semester for the first two years, then one or two per term after that).
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA in your first year, 3.2 after that.
- Attend 2 Colloquia per semester.
- Engage in approved campus or community service.
