


The Albert Dorman Honors College exists to help the brightest students achieve their full potential. Your classmates will be top students among all majors who want to share their time, enthusiasm, and talents. Over 650 Honors students excel in Engineering, Architecture, Management, the Sciences and Liberal Arts, or Computing Sciences.
The NJIT Honors College offers a challenging educational experience that stimulates students to test their limits, a technology-rich education to foster a new generation of innovators and entrepreneurs, and a well-rounded education that emphasizes social consciousness and community service.

The five, all Biomedical Engineering majors, are Aaron Wey, Chinedu Ezebuiroh, Crystal Kania, Oscar Tsang, and Federico Lazaro. Wey, Tsang, and Kania are also enrolled in combined accelerated pre-health programs.
The internships, in Gaithersburg, Virginia (DC area), are with the National Institute of Standards and Technology. They were recommended in a competitive grant proposal sent by the Honors College to NIST. The students are Abusomwan Uyiosa (ME) and Fatima Fabara (CHE).
Salman Naqvi, Honors third-year EE major, has been awarded the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship for 2009-2010. Salman’s brother, Mohammad, won the award for 2007-08 and 2008-09. The award is made “To encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering and to foster excellence in those fields.” Faculty liaison is Prof. Jonakait.
Honors student Wasseem Abugosh presented a research poster at the American Chemical Society meeting, Salt Lake City, March 24.
Three Honors College students have been granted early acceptance for NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) summer internships. As SURF (Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships) students they will work for 11 weeks, contributing to an ongoing research project under the guidance of an NIST scientist or engineer. In addition, a summer-long lecture series exposes SURFers to a sampling of diverse research topics. SURF students receive a stipend, plus travel and housing allowances.
The Albert Dorman Honors College, known for its high academic standards, often has a bright freshman class. But this year’s class is the brightest ever.
The BA program in Law, Technology and Culture represents the new focal point for pre-law education at NJIT and a new way to prepare students at a technological university for careers in law and law-related areas of business and government, as well as for further graduate study in various disciplines.
