Dorman Honors College Freshman Seminar

Freshman Seminar is a requirement for graduation for all first-time college freshmen at NJIT.  The Dorman Honors College has a specifically designed seminar for Honors freshmen.  During the Honors freshman seminar course, students will develop an academic portfolio which will include personal reflections of the first college semester, development of an individual education plan (IEP) and begin the creation of a resume.  Discussions will focus on the responsibilities of being a successful college student, the academic honor code and ethics, introduction to college research, and the support network within the university.  Leadership skills and the group presentations will be emphasized.  The course will be facilitated by an instructor and teaching assistant who is an upper class Honors College student.

On this web site, students will find links throughout the syllabus to several articles, activities and web sites to be used during the class sessions.

All freshmen are required to attend four university presentations which will discuss Academic Integrity, Title IX (Sexual Harassment), Alcohol and Other Drugs, and Cultural Diversity.  Specific dates and times for attendance will be scheduled according to your freshmen seminar section.

The individual freshman seminar instructors will discuss any changes in the schedule of topics as presented.
