The Passing the Torch Mentor Program provides every first-year Honors student an opportunity to be assigned an upper-class Honors peer mentor. The purposes of the Passing the Torch Mentor Program are:
to enhance first year Honors students’ experience at NJIT and the Honors College,
to create a sense of community within the Honors College, and
to provide first year students the opportunity to network and cultivate relationships with upper-class Honors students.
The Passing-the-Torch program is constantly growing. First-year Honors College freshmen recognize the importance of peer connections as they acclimate to university life, and upper-level honors students are eager to be of assistance with their knowledge and experience. Currently there are 65 mentors, the majority of them assigned to one mentee, usually from the same major academic program as their own.
For more information or to register as a mentor or mentee, email honors@njit.edu.
