Dean's Fund for Student Development

The Dean’s Fund for Student Development is made possible through the generosity of alumni and friends of the Albert Dorman Honors College. The Fund enables scholars to pursue co-curricular educational experiences that enrich their academic journey and shape their future careers. Many of our Goldwater Scholars’ first independent research experiences and research conferences were supported through the Dean’s Fund. Similarly, many of our Fulbright Scholars first studied internationally with the support of this Fund.

The Dean’s Fund also supports applied-learning experiences and our commitment to building a more sustainable campus and strengthening our community. For example, the Fund has supported projects such as the Food Forest Planting project in front of Laurel Hall, part of a larger biodiversity initiative to create a more sustainable campus ecosystem.

The Dean’s Fund supports meaningful, co-curricular academic and professional development opportunities, including:
• Independent research projects
• Conference attendance or presentation
• Research conducted abroad (including as part of study abroad programs)
• Community-based service learning projects
• Creative or interdisciplinary scholarly projects

Study Abroad Support
The Dean’s Fund may support research-based projects conducted abroad, including projects undertaken as part of a study abroad program. To be eligible for funding, students must propose a project that can be conducted while abroad. The project may be completed or written up upon return, but it must be clearly tied to research, scholarship, or applied learning.

Please note: Submission to the Dean's Fund for Student Development is not a guarantee of funding. All applications are reviewed, and funding decisions are made based on available resources and the strength of the proposal.
