Outreach Coordinator
Michelle Fernandez joined the Albert Dorman Honors College in November 2024, bringing experience in strategic communications, project management, education, and student engagement. Prior to joining ADHC, she served as a high school biology teacher at a Title I public school, where she supported students from historically underrepresented backgrounds in STEM. She later served as a middle school dean in Newark, working closely with students, families, and educators to foster an inclusive and supportive school community. These experiences continue to inform her approach to outreach and engagement within the Newark community.
As Outreach Coordinator, Michelle works to strengthen the visibility and reach of the Honors College through strategic communications, storytelling, recruitment, and relationship-building. She develops Honors College publications, manages the college’s website and social media presence across LinkedIn and Instagram, and creates digital campaigns that showcase the accomplishments, experiences, and opportunities of ADHC scholars. She also supports strategic recruitment efforts through high school visits, application review, and engagement with prospective students, families, counselors, alumni, and community partners.
Through this work, Michelle helps connect the Honors College with both prospective and current scholars while advancing ADHC’s broader outreach and communications goals. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Community Health from CUNY Hunter College.
